The Project
The House of Dancing Water, located in the City of Dreams, Macau, is one of the world’s most spectacular theatrical productions. Featuring high-flying acrobatics, intricate stage mechanics, and complex aerial stunts, the show required a robust fall protection system to safeguard the in-house rigging team responsible for the launch and landing of aerial performers.
The Challenge
Ensuring the safety of riggers working at height within the performance space presented several challenges:
High-Risk Work Environment: The team operated at significant heights during live performances, requiring a secure and reliable fall protection system.
Geographical and Logistical Barriers: The project required specialist installation expertise in a unique and complex international setting.
Non-Disruptive Installation: The solution had to be implemented without affecting the show’s ongoing schedule or the integrity of the stage design.
The Solutions
To address these challenges, Eurosafe designed and installed a Honeywell Multirail horizontal fall protection system, supported by additional steelwork where necessary. Key elements of the project included:
Customised Multirail System: A robust, high-performance rail-based system was integrated into the venue’s structure to provide continuous fall protection for rigging personnel.
Specialist Rope Access Installation: Given the complexity of the environment, the system was installed using rope access methodologies, ensuring precision in a challenging setting while minimising disruption.
Engineered Support Steelwork: Where required, bespoke steelwork was designed and installed to ensure the system’s integrity and compatibility with the venue’s infrastructure.
The Outcome
The installed fall protection system provides enhanced safety and ease of movement for the rigging team, ensuring they can perform their roles with confidence during each show. By leveraging advanced rope access techniques, Eurosafe successfully overcame logistical constraints, delivering a tailored solution for this world-renowned production.
