150 Aldersgate

The Client
150 Aldersgate (also known as Verdant) is a 10-storey, 140,000 sq ft sustainable commercial office building located at 150 Aldersgate Street in the City of London.
The client required a permanent façade access solution to support the ongoing cleaning and maintenance of the building. At 31 metres high, the building needed a system capable of providing safe and efficient access across the complete façade while integrating discreetly with the building's architectural design.
The Requirements
The client required a reliable façade access system that would enable operatives to carry out routine window cleaning and general maintenance safely.
In addition to providing comprehensive access, the system needed to minimise its visual impact and complement the architectural intent of the building.
The Solution
Working alongside our specialist partner GPBMU, Eurosafe provided a GPI model Building Maintenance Unit (BMU) designed to give two-person access to the complete façade.
The BMU provides a permanent means of accessing external areas of the building, allowing cleaning and maintenance teams to reach the façade safely and efficiently.
To meet the client's aesthetic requirements, the BMU guide tracks were recessed into the building structure. This reduced the visual prominence of the access system while retaining the functionality required for ongoing façade maintenance.
Careful integration of the BMU and its guide tracks ensured that the access requirements could be met without unnecessarily compromising the appearance of the building.

The Outcome
The completed installation provides 150 Aldersgate with a comprehensive long-term façade access solution for routine window cleaning, inspection and maintenance.
The two-person BMU enables safe and efficient access across the complete façade, while the recessed guide tracks minimise the system's visual impact.
The result is a practical and discreet access solution that supports the building's ongoing maintenance requirements while respecting its architectural design.
