Can you give a brief overview of your career before joining Eurosafe?

Before joining Eurosafe, my career began straight from school with a bricklaying apprenticeship. I was ambitious and enjoyed the building trade, particularly the hands-on nature of turning drawings and plans into something tangible. Unfortunately, my career in the building trade came to an abrupt end during the financial crash in 2008, which became a turning point and led me towards the next stage of my career.

When did you join Eurosafe, and what attracted you to the business?

I joined Eurosafe in 2008. What attracted me to the business was the opportunity to be part of a then small, ambitious company with a great group of people and a strong sense of purpose. I was also drawn to the nature of the work itself, particularly the scale and complexity of the projects and installations being delivered nationwide. The pace of the business, the variety of the work and the opportunity to contribute to its continued development all made Eurosafe an exciting place to build the next stage of my career.

Can you take us through your career progression within Eurosafe?

Since joining Eurosafe, I have progressed through a wide range of roles, beginning as a helping hand in the warehouse before moving into Site Operative and Site Supervisor positions. I was then appointed Project Manager for Eurosafe in Australia, an opportunity that significantly accelerated my learning and development through a steep but valuable learning curve. On returning to the UK after a year in Australia, I moved into a Sales Estimator role within the new installations sales team. This progression later led to roles as Sales Manager, Sales and Pre-Construction Director, and ultimately Managing Director in 2024. Each stage has helped me develop as a leader, from understanding operational delivery through to shaping strategy, supporting teams and driving commercial performance.

What do you enjoy most about working at Eurosafe?

What I enjoy most about working at Eurosafe is the combination of people, pace and purpose. The work we do matters to our customers, and I value being part of a business where technical knowledge, practical delivery and strong relationships all come together. I also enjoy seeing people develop, take ownership and contribute to the continued success of the business.

What professional qualifications, memberships, certifications or leadership training have you completed?

My professional development has combined industry experience, formal qualifications and practical leadership training. I began with a Higher National Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment, which provided a strong technical foundation for my career. Since then, I have continued to invest in my development through a range of management and leadership programmes, including ILM Leadership and Management, BHP Business School Management Training, and the Help to Grow: Management Course delivered through the University of Sheffield.

Tell us about the key achievements or projects you’re particularly proud of.

I am particularly proud of the role I have played in strengthening business performance, developing high-performing teams, and building trusted, long-term customer relationships. The achievements that stand out most are those where strong collaboration across divisions enabled the successful delivery of complex and demanding projects. Notable examples include Whitechapel Crossrail station and The Lumen, both of which demonstrated the value of teamwork, shared accountability, and collective expertise. Looking further back in my career, one particularly memorable project was Tengizchevroil in the remote oil fields of Kazakhstan, an experience that strengthened my adaptability, resilience, and ability to lead in challenging environments.

How would you describe your leadership philosophy/approach?

My leadership style is direct, supportive, standards-led and always with positive intent. I believe people perform best when they are in a positive environment, understand what success looks like, why it matters and how their contribution fits into the wider business. I like to give people ownership, encourage honest conversations and maintain high expectations around preparation, accountability and follow-through. A positive culture and environment is the core of my philosophy. We must enjoy what we do.

What advice would you give to someone looking to build a successful career in our industry?

My advice would be to stay curious, learn from people around you and build your reputation through reliability. Technical knowledge is important, but attitude, consistency and the ability to build trust are just as critical. Take ownership of your development, ask questions, understand the commercial realities of the business and always look for ways to add value.

What are your vision and priorities for the future of your department or the business?

My priorities for the future are to continue building resilient teams, strengthening customer relationships and delivering sustainable growth. I want the business to be known not only for strong commercial results, but also for the quality of our culture, the confidence of our people and the reputation we build in the market.
