Leadership spotlight: Callie Luck, Chief Administrative Officer (CAO)

From joining Eurosafe as a university placement student in 2012 to becoming Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Callie Luck has played an important role in the company's growth and development. Now overseeing key business functions including IT, HR, HSQE, Purchasing, Warehouse and Fleet, Callie is passionate about improving processes, embracing innovation and empowering people to make a difference.

Current responsibilities as CAO

  • Shaping and overseeing internal operations that support Eurosafe’s strategic objectives and continued growth

  • Overseeing IT, HR, HSQE, Warehouse, Purchasing and Fleet, ensuring these functions are aligned with the wider direction of the business

  • Identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, strengthen processes and introduce new ways of working that enable our people and the business to perform effectively and support sustainable growth

Can you give a brief overview of your career before joining Eurosafe?

I studied Business and IT at Sheffield Hallam University and first joined Eurosafe in 2012 as part of my placement year. I came into the business as an IT Administrator, initially helping with the implementation of a new bespoke ERP system.

I continued working with Eurosafe during my final year at university before joining the business full-time after graduating.

When did you join Eurosafe, and what attracted you to the business?

What originally attracted me to Eurosafe was the placement opportunity and the chance to be a key part of implementing significant change within a growing business. Even at that stage, I was given the opportunity to get involved in projects that could make a real difference to how the company operated.

Can you take us through your career progression within Eurosafe?

My career at Eurosafe has developed alongside the growth of the business. I started in a digital/IT administration role before progressing to IT Manager. As the company grew, I took on responsibility for HR alongside IT, before moving into the role of Business Process Manager.

Today, I am Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), with responsibility for supporting and developing the internal operations of the business.

What do you enjoy most about working at Eurosafe?

The people are a huge part of what I enjoy about working at Eurosafe. I also really value having the opportunity to influence strategic change and make decisions that can have a genuine impact on the way the business operates and develops

What professional qualifications, memberships, certifications or leadership training have you completed?

I graduated with a 2:1 degree in IT with Business Studies and have continued to develop my leadership and management skills throughout my career.

I have completed ILM-accredited leadership training and I am currently working towards my Level 7 CIPD qualification in Strategic People Management.

Tell us about the key achievements or projects you’re particularly proud of.

One of the projects I am most proud of is implementing a company-wide ERP system and seeing how that system has continued to develop alongside the business.

More broadly, I am proud to now oversee Eurosafe's internal operations and to have progressed from joining the company on a university placement to becoming part of its senior leadership team.

How would you describe your leadership philosophy/approach?

I believe a happy team with good communication is an effective and focused team. I want the people in my team to be interested in what they do, to keep learning and developing, and to feel comfortable putting forward their ideas.

Some of our best improvements come directly from the team. Whether it's improving our IT systems , creating efficiencies in the warehouse, purchasing gains, implementing better HSQE initiatives or developing better HR processes, I want people to have the freedom to identify opportunities and suggest new ways of working.

What advice would you give to someone looking to build a successful career in our industry?

No idea is a bad idea if it can save someone 10 minutes a day.

You don't always need a huge project to make a difference. Small improvements made consistently can have a significant impact across a business, so don't be afraid to question how something is done or suggest a better way of doing it.

What are your vision and priorities for the future of your department or the business?

My priority is to continue finding efficiencies throughout the business while developing our IT systems and taking advantage of new technology and innovation.

I want us to keep improving how we work, support our people with the right systems and processes, and ultimately help Eurosafe continue to be a leader in what we do.
