Eurosafe Training supports Fenham Explorer Scouts on their Poacher 2026 adventure
We were delighted to support Fenham Explorer Scouts from Newcastle on their journey to this year’s Poacher International Jamboree, with the use of one of our vans to help the group transport their camping equipment.
The Eurosafe van give them some much-needed additional transport capacity for their tents, camping kit and equipment as they travelled to the Lincolnshire Showground for a memorable week away.
Fenham’s contingent included 25 young people, and for some members of the group, Poacher 2026 represented an important milestone – their first experience of spending a full week camping away from home.
An adventure of a lifetime
Held at Lincolnshire Showground, Poacher International Jamboree brings together Scouts and Guides from around the world. The 2026 event took place from 1st–8th August and welcomed more than 5,500 young people for a week of fun, friendship and adventure.
For young people attending an event of this scale, the experience offers much more than simply a week of camping.
One of the biggest benefits is the opportunity to meet people from different countries and cultures. Living, socialising and taking part in activities alongside Scouts and Guides from around the world encourages new friendships, cultural understanding and a greater sense of global community.
Poacher also gives participants the chance to challenge themselves and learn new skills. Its extensive programme includes adventurous, water-based and creative activities, encouraging young people to step outside their comfort zones and experience something new. Activities range from canoeing and kayaking to crafts, challenges and opportunities to explore global issues through the event’s Global Development Village.
Spending a week living together as a group also helps young people develop independence, resilience, teamwork and confidence. Participants camp, cook and eat together within their allocated group areas, giving them opportunities to take responsibility and support one another throughout the week.
And, of course, Poacher is a celebration. Opening and closing ceremonies, arena displays and evening entertainment create a festival atmosphere throughout the jamboree, with the week culminating in a closing celebration and fireworks display.
Lending our support
We’re pleased that the simple loan of a van could help Fenham Explorer Scouts get themselves – and all their essential camping kit – to such a significant event.
For the young people involved, Poacher provides an opportunity to grow in confidence, make new friends, try new activities and create memories that will stay with them long after the tents have been packed away.
We hope the entire Fenham Explorer Scout group had a fantastic week at Poacher 2026 – we’re proud to have played a part in helping them get there!
